Which Poster Should You Choose for a Bedroom?

In a bedroom, choosing a poster depends as much on the available wall as on the colors of your bedding and furniture. Look at the room in the morning and in the evening: a shade can look different depending on the light.

1Start from a mood you love

For a botanical decor, compare leaves, flowers and landscapes. To evoke a memory, start from a city or a destination. You can keep a soft palette or choose a more contrasting poster as a focal point; no color guarantees better sleep.

The bedroom selection and the seaside posters offer ideas to compare with your existing decor.

2Check the size and placement

Measure the clear wall, taking the headboard, lamps and furniture into account. Place a template with the outer dimensions of the frame you have in mind, then look at it from the bed and from the bedroom doorway. There is no height or size dictated by the width of the bed.

A single poster creates a focal point. A pair lets you echo a subject or a color; compare the whole arrangement with its spacing before ordering. Check the orientation and the sizes actually available on each product page.

3Consider light and hanging

Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and check for reflections from the bed. Choose a fastening suited to the wall, the frame and the manufacturer’s instructions. For an installation above the bed, take particular care to check that it is secure.

The framing guide details the measurements to check before choosing a frame or a mat.
